How to brew tea with a teapot & built-in strainer

IN THIS GUIDE WE'LL GO OVER HOW TO BREW TEA WITH A TEAPOT & BUILT-IN STRAINER

This method is ideal for brewing both a single cup of tea or a full pot (multiple cups) of tea since you can easily control the amount of tea leaves and water used. The leaves rest at the bottom of the pot so they’re always submerged, even when adding less water for smaller portions. The leaves have ample room to expand, more space than in an infuser or small french press.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
◦ TEAPOT WITH COILED SPOUT FILTER OR STRAINER LID
◦ TEA LEAVES
◦TEASPOON OR SCOOP
◦ POT OR KETTLE TO BOIL WATER
◦ FRESH WATER (PREFERABLY FILTERED)
◦ YOUR FAVORITE TEA CUP
STEP 1
ADD THE TEA LEAVES
Measure 1 rounded teaspoon (~2 grams) of tea leaves per 1 cup (8 ounces) of water to equal 1 cup of tea. Pour the leaves into the teapot.
STEP 2
ADD THE WATER
Add boiling or hot water to the teapot. Follow instructions on your tea packaging for recommended water temperature. (Find general water temps here.)
STEP 3
STEEP THE TEA
Place the lid on the teapot. Allow the leaves to expand as you steep for the recommended time. Follow instructions on your tea packaging. (Find general steep times here.)
STEP 4
POUR THE TEA
As you pour the tea into your cup, the coiled filter in the spout or the strainer lid will catch the tea leaves, keeping them in the teapot.
STEP 5
ENJOY YOUR TEA
Savor your delicious cup of tea!
PRO TIP
Pour all the tea into your cup(s), so that only the tea leaves remain in the teapot. You want to drain the tea from the teapot because the leaves will over-steep if left in water. Reuse the tea leaves for multiple re-steeps and discover new and exciting flavors in a 2nd or 3rd cup and beyond! Simply add water again (Step 2) and increase your steep time by 30 seconds-1 minute for each subsequent infusion.
